Why Choose a Custom Commission?

  • Personalization: Your space, your style, your story—all captured in a distinctive piece of art.
  • Perfect Fit: Tailored to your specific dimensions and color preferences, ensuring it integrates seamlessly with your environment.
  • Emotional Connection: Create a lasting legacy or give a deeply personal gift that resonates for years to come.
  • Collaborative Process: I work closely with you to shape your ideas into a masterpiece you’ll cherish for a lifetime.

Commission Process: How It Works

Initial Consultation: We’ll start with a conversation to explore your vision and preferences, but it’s important that my style resonates with you. Whether inspired by a specific piece I’ve created before or the overall aesthetic of my work, this step ensures that we share a common artistic direction. We’ll discuss the details like size, style, color palette, and any personal elements you’d like to incorporate.

Concept Development: After understanding your vision, I’ll develop a few rough sketches or digital mockups to give you an idea of the direction we’re heading. You’ll have the chance to provide feedback and refine the concept, ensuring that it aligns with both your expectations and my artistic approach.

Approval and Deposit: Once we’ve agreed on a concept that feels right, I’ll provide a detailed quote for the commission. A 50% deposit is required to secure your booking and begin the creative process. This deposit is non-refundable, covering the cost of materials and initial work.

Creation Phase: Now, the artwork begins to take shape! I’ll create your custom piece based on our agreed concept, providing periodic updates with photos so you can see its progress. Your input is welcome during this phase to make sure the piece evolves in a way that stays true to both your vision and my style.

Final Approval: Once the artwork is complete, I’ll send high-quality images for your review. Minor adjustments can be made to ensure it meets your expectations, but the overall style and essence will reflect my artistic interpretation.

Delivery and Final Payment: After your final approval, the remaining balance will be due. I will then carefully package and ship your artwork, or arrange for local pickup if you’re nearby. Shipping costs depend on the size and destination and will be included in the final invoice.

Enjoy Your Artwork: Your unique artwork is ready to enhance your space! I hope it brings a touch of inspiration and meaning to your environment. I’d love to see how it looks in its new home, so please feel free to share photos!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I start the commission process?

Begin by browsing my gallery to get a feel for my style. Then, head to the Commission Inquiry page and sign up for the commission email. This one-time email contains all the details you need, including my price chart.

What information do you need from me?

I’ll need to know:

  • Your preferred size?
  • Color preferences (based on your decor, favorite colors, etc.)
  • Any of my existing pieces that you particularly like?

Once you’ve decided on a size and made a deposit, I’ll start working on your piece.

Can I provide input during the creation process?

Absolutely. I’ll send you progress updates, and I welcome your feedback. It’s a collaborative process to ensure the final piece meets your vision.

What’s the payment structure?

I work on a simple two-part payment:

  • 50% deposit to begin the commission
  • Remaining 50% when the piece is complete and you’re satisfied

What if I’m not satisfied with the final piece?

Your satisfaction is crucial to me. We’ll work closely throughout the process to ensure we’re on the right track. In the unlikely event you’re not happy with the final piece, your deposit can be applied as credit toward another painting.

How long does a commission typically take?

Most pieces take 6-10 weeks to complete. If you have a specific deadline, let me know, and I’ll do my best to accommodate it.

How do I begin a commission order?

Choose the right size for your space and budget. You can give me color ideas by sending interior paint colors, fabric swatches, or photos. Look through the site and tell me the titles of the pieces you are attracted to but might not be the right size & I can help you with the rest. Your order officially begins when you have officially chosen a size and made your deposit.

What if I want changes once the piece is in progress?

As long as you like my current work and allow me my fair share of artistic control, I am happy to accommodate your opinions and a few edits. I will send in progress photos so you feel able to express your opinions before the piece is even considered “finished” and this makes it easier for me to get it just right.

How does payment work for commissions?

You can pay in two installments—50% deposit up front to begin your order & the remaining half when your painting is complete and you are 100% pleased with the finished piece.

What if I am not 100% satisfied with the piece?

I work closely with customers while the piece is in progress to ensure that you are completely satisfied with the color, balance, mood, & direction of the piece. You are not obligated to purchase the painting, and if you were to decide that it is not for you or your space, you will be able to use your 50% deposit as store credit to apply to another painting. However, this has never happened before, so hopefully you would not be the first.

How long will it take to get my commission painting?

Generally 6-10 weeks, depending on the season, but I love a good deadline so if you have something specific coming up—an anniversary, party, etc. I will do my best to get it to you by then.
